Judging panel, poem, and cultural highlights.

Hopefully this post will be part of a weekly/bi-monthly series. This blog is an attempt to provide updates on my writing life, and to provide a forum where I can promote things that I find wonderful.

Perhaps some nonsense shall also seep into it.

NEWS
In August (a while back, I know) I was honoured to be on the judging panel for the Stoke Sentinel’s literary prize Too Write. There was some wonderful writing, and what a fantastic platform it is for the writers across the age groups. On a personal level, I was delighted to see the number of Gothic/bizarre fiction in the under-18s category. The winners were announced last month, and you can read more on the Stoke Sentinel’s website.

POEMS

I am happy to announce that my poem Waves appeared last month in Ink, Sweat, and Tears.

There are strong rumours that it can be read here, for free!

CULTURAL HIGHLIGHTS

I recently watched a documentary about the electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani. It’s called A Life in Waves. Ciani is a wonderful artist, who created excellent music that I plan to absorb in the near future.

I am also enraptured by Charlotte Gainsbourg’s latest release, Rest. It’s melancholic, beautiful and melodic. Delightful.
